Happy New Year!!

It's been a busy holiday season as always, but even more so this year as it lead up to our Disney vacation. So even the week after Christmas was packed with all the last minute errands and shopping for vacation. We dropped Peanut off with Dad and picked up Mom Friday night to save time Saturday morning. Our flight left at 10:40 non-stop to Orlando with no glitches. By the time we got our rental car, though, it was 2:00 before we left the airport. We grabbed an awesome Hawaiian pizza at NYPizza for lunch, then checked into the condo - or tried to - it was about 3:10 and we couldn't check in until 4:00. So we went next door to the Publix and got some groceries for the week (which consisted of stuff for breakfast, coffee & tea, water and fruit. After unloading our bags and groceries, unpacking and chillin' for a bit, we headed to "Downtown Disney" for a bit of shopping and dinner. All I can say is I sure hope this wasn't a preview of what tomorrow will be like at SeaWorld. The traffic was unbelievable. The first two entrances to the area were full and we drove around for quite a few minutes before finding a parking spot - only because that car was leaving ... and that was just the beginning.

It was wall-to-wall people. Everywhere. We walked around for a while without accomplishing much of anything. Finally ended up back where we began for dinner at Wolfgang Puk's. Cari got some mini crab cakes (we didn't know they were mini when she ordered them but trust me, they were about the size of a silver dollar - didn't know they made crab cakes that small). Mom, Bob and I got a spinach salad that was wonderful! We were being good so we could get an ice cream later - so we thought. Our server informed us we could take a water taxi to the other end of the shopping area to go to the world's largest Disney store and we hopped right on that since we had already walked it once. But that meant we wouldn't go by the ice cream place. Oh well there's always tomorrow - and the rest of the week.

We hit a few shops on the way. Cari and I bought a couple of frames and I found some Mickey scissors for scrapbooking! I was overwhelmed when I first stepped into the Disney store. Between the size of that place and the amount of people, it was just too much, and we were tired (it was already after 9pm) and our feet hurt, and it's just the beginning of the trip. LOL -  I'd love to go back there during a less busy time. Cari found some playing cards and bought this beautiful scarf - I hope I can find one for me at one of the other parks - I should've bought one too. We were pretty much done by then and started back to the car. So it's 12:30am and our first day in Orlando is over. We'll be back up early in the morning getting ready to head to SeaWorld. Here's a couple of random shots from the evening:
